Lancaster Police Department officers were dispatched to speak with a group of neighbors alleging an individual had threatened them with a sledge hammer, struck one the neighbor’s vehicles with the hammer, and advised the group he would “shoot” them.
Officers located the subject as described by the neighbors at his residence. Upon making contact with the subject, one of our officers observed a gun in the subject’s waistband and immediately ordered him to not touch the weapon. The subject reached for the weapon and was immediately restrained by our officers.
The subject was arrested and the gun was found to be a replica/toy.
Thankfully, this split-second decision making ended without injury
