An alleged hit-and-run driver was arrested Wednesday morning after a collision in Riverside that left a 14-year-old girl hospitalized, police said.
Officers responded to the intersection of La Sierra Avenue and Cochran Street around 7:15 a.m. after receiving reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a car, which fled the scene, according to a Riverside Police Department news release.
The girl, who was critically injured in the crash, was transported to Loma Linda Hospital. She was last reported to be in stable condition, the release stated.
The collision occurred a short distance away from La Sierra High School, though police did not say whether the victim was a student there.
